About this game

Piano Tiles is a fast rhythm game built around one simple rule: tap only the black keys as they scroll toward you, and let the music set the pace.

Four columns, one rule: tap the black tiles, never the white. The tiles scroll faster as the song builds, and a single wrong touch ends the run. Use the mouse on desktop or both thumbs on a phone. The first thirty seconds of any song are easy; the last thirty separate players from spectators. Scores come down to reaction speed plus nerve, which makes it a fair fight between you and yesterday's best run. Classical pieces hide the hardest charts.

Because the game speeds up the longer a song runs, most runs are decided in the back half rather than the opening bars, so pacing your focus matters as much as your reflexes. Keeping your hand relaxed near the keys, instead of tensing up after a close miss, tends to keep a streak going longer than trying to muscle through faster.

Piano Tiles is unblocked and works on any school Chromebook, whether you are playing with a mouse in a browser tab or tapping a touchscreen. It is an easy game to pick up for a quick break between classes, since a single run rarely takes more than a couple of minutes. If the rhythm-and-reflex format works for you, WTF Games also has other music games worth a look for the same kind of fast, pattern-reading challenge.
