Grand Prix Hero

Grand Prix Hero is a circuit racing game built around formula cars and proper track layouts rather than open roads. You line up in a grid, race a set number of laps, and finishing position decides how much you earn toward upgrades. It is the closest thing on the site to a season of real single seater racing without a download.

How to play: arrow keys or WASD drive, up accelerates, down brakes and reverses, and left and right steer. Space is the handbrake for the rare hairpin that needs it. The car has real weight, so the fastest lap comes from braking in a straight line before a corner, turning in once, and getting back on the throttle early rather than sawing at the wheel mid corner. Between races you spend prize money on engine, tyres and handling upgrades.

Two things that move you up the grid. Spend your first upgrades on handling and tyres rather than top speed, because on a technical circuit corner exit is worth more than straight line pace. And treat the first lap as a positioning lap, since diving down the inside of five cars into turn one usually ends against a barrier and costs more time than it gains. Overtake on corner exit where you carry more speed than the car ahead.
