Formula Rush

Formula Rush is circuit racing with open wheel cars and a focus on clean laps. The tracks are closed loops with a mix of chicanes, hairpins and long sweeping corners, and the difference between a good and bad run is almost entirely down to where you brake and how early you get back on the throttle.

How to play: arrow keys or WASD control the car, up accelerates, down brakes and reverses, left and right steer, and space works as a handbrake for tight hairpins. The car behaves like a light, grippy formula machine, which means it turns in sharply but loses the rear if you brake while already turning. The standard technique applies: brake in a straight line, release the brake as you turn in, then feed the throttle back in through the corner exit.

What actually lowers your lap time. Slow in, fast out beats charging a corner, because carrying speed onto the following straight pays for the whole distance while a hot entry only pays for a few metres. Learn one corner at a time instead of trying to fix a whole lap, and use the kerbs on chicane exits to straighten the line rather than avoiding them. Consistency over three laps beats one lucky flyer.
